Funky Sneaker

Design Project

The Funky Sneaker Design Project starts out with building basic drawing skills; students will gain confidence through practice and application of newly learned techniques. Students will choose their favorite sneaker/shoe they own and then create an observation drawing, paying attention to the various lines and shapes that make up that particular sneaker. The drawing will be a life-size,  1:1 ratio. During this project students will learn how cultural influence has affected shoe designs over time, as well as the social influence that fashion, in particular sneakers/shoes, has on our decision to purchase such products.

Students will then be shown artwork by the artists Umberto Boccioni. We will borrow techniques and inspiration from his futurist paintings to break up the background and sneaker in an interesting way, adding color and design while focusing on composition.
